Generative AI is a new frontier in education, and educators are full of curiosity. The Stanford Accelerator for Learning aims to promote AI literacy and deepen engagement with AI tools for learning. In service of this goal, the AI Tinkery is a space that fosters a dynamic, hands-on, and collaborative environment for instructors, students, and researchers to explore and experiment with generative AI.
Housed in the Center for Education Research at Stanford (CERAS), the AI Tinkery provides physical and virtual space, programming, and resources for explorations at the intersection of generative AI and learning, including:
- Open hours. Instructors, students, and researchers drop in to learn, play, tinker, and share.
- One-on-one support. Meetings with AI Tinkery staff to find the right AI tool for a learning setting, develop AI literacy, assess AI use risk, and more.
- Tinkering. Regular workshops, interactive exhibits, playtest sessions, and hackathons.
- Community. Online and in-person opportunities for AI Tinkery visitors to find information and connect with others interested in AI in education.
- Resources. Step-by-step guides for educators to explore AI tools and ready-made lesson plans to bring AI explorations into the classroom.
